How is this not an entitlement program? You're giving ranks to people whom you like or have had good personal relationships with. That is hardly a reasonable criteria. In addition, the power to mute and kick are influential in their own right; an abusive VIP could effectively hurt the server with just these two commands.
I suggest that we create a third new rank that has further limited powers and is specifically designed for the 'veteran' players.
In this way I believe we can maintain the legitimacy of the VIP and at the same time create a rank for 'veteran' players--without putting the server in danger.
