Jacob's CTF Server

Clearly, T97 is the smartest of us all.
All i want to do is see the acheron ops play ctf again, which would boost the people playing ctf, which is always good.
Although, i want everyone (hope this is not considered advertising) to check out this game with more players than us, tagpro, that has formed a competitive league with large scale teams. Although they have larger numbers of people to chose from, they also have larger teams. I think we should do a draft, (basically just taking exactly what they are doing) and create teams of 4ish. This way we could be able to have the competitiveness without the clan wars. I just want to show tagpro to show that this idea does work and has worked in the past.
Also, if we drop this thread, i will be angry. I spent valuable time typing up this post :]

This tournament has really exploded into something else. This wasn't even supposed to be a full-scaled tournament; it was supposed to be a friendly one-game match, between Acheron and Jacob_'s CTF.

Let me explain to you all how this idea formed. I had this ambition and idea, for a long time now, to create a CTF clan/guild. It was a few weeks ago, in Maxi's server, that I told her about my proposal for a clan. When I told her about my original proposal, she came up with the idea of facing Team Acheron--after all, Andilitox had stated on the server more than once, "Who wants to face Team Acheron?"

She agreed that it would be a one-game match ('battle') between both communities and that she would talk to Andilitox about the acceptance of his challenge.

A few days passed and I formed the team (clan)...

But.

No word ever came from Maxi or Acheron...

Curious, I went on Acheron's forums to write a post about this matter. The intent was to simply ask the Acheron Community, "Would they participate in this event", and, "Did they even know about this event at all?"

Unfortunately, Acheron replied to the post attacking me for accusing them of challenging Jacob_'s CTF and for making information up.

Later, Morgiepie came onto this forums' post along with Smunch and Sports either complaining or showing distate in the idea of a 'Tournament'.

Now we are here. T97 has given his ideas for a compromise and the full--original intent of this project is gone.

And what do I get in return, now that my ideas are most likely going to die out? I get to be blamed by Acheron for this event and everything wrong with it, I get to be blamed for being incompetent and a "racist-ass hole". Isn't it just great that the man who practically drove someone else's idea up to where it is now, is having his plans destroyed, and himself being blamed by others?

You have to understand that your idea still remains yours. But the fact is, that if Acheron doesn't want to, they don't have to. We were trying to work out and see what kind of format might suit everybody in a casual competitive manner.

So, in the end, if you still wanted to execute your plan, you still can but you should wait until Andi gets back from vacation.

Working out a compromise is fine with me and everyone on this community--no doubt about that. But I don't agree with the idea that I can still implement my plan. Yes, everyone knows that my plan is still my plan but the chances of that plan getting approval or even support has been shattered. Why? Because of T97.

If we use T97's compromises/proposals then my plans are down the gutter and I doubt that they'll ever come out of that gutter. With his plans in action, the clan that has already been assembled must be divided up, thus destroying the basic idea of one CTF clan. Furthermore, should my proposal fail to gain a ground here--per say, then the likelihood of this plan getting a popular support anywhere else is highly unlikely--and eventually, this entire idea will be forgotten.

Yes--in a way, what I'm saying is all based on the hypothetical, but from what we've seen in the past, these hypothetical scenarios are likely to happen.

This was never supposed to be real a competition Makoto--let's get that straight. There wasn't supposed to be much or any compromise at all, it was supposed to be a simple--friendly match that unfortunately, Acheron made into a huge issue. You and I know this for a fact.

Also, what we're talking about now is just one of the many points I made in my earlier post. I don't think that this point I made is a substantial part of my argument--more or less a minor one.

Sounds just like the Acheron I know. I guess all of the hostility and jumping to conclusions didn't leave with Thefoxin.

What is this thing? One CTF clan? is it what Jacobs_ is now? Cause that is the vibe I am getting.

I see where you're getting at. We clearly want a strong team with the best people from Jacob_'s to represent us in any event. What T97 proposed won't kill your idea. I don't mean to disrespect, but the compromise that was thought of steers on a different path of it's own.

1. If T97's event is publicized, becomes successful, then the probability of us hosting another event in the future will increase.
2. Both sides are happy from the event.
3. You can always make a team, nobody's telling you not to. And if the team happens to be active during the randomized event, then that's their choice. They chose to sign up and play. Afterward, the team can resume and play against whoever.
And, if it isn't a real competition, then that's fine. Players from Acheron and Jacob_'s reserve their right to their own opinion and choice to participate. If everyone from Jacob_'s wants to but one from Acheron doesn't, then that's their right. Judging from the previous posts that argued against the event, I'd recommend that there's more likelihood to having T97's randomizer, THEN your showdown against the two groups, and less of a chance to just jumping straight into the showdown.

When Andi told us that you guys wanted to face us, I don't think he remembered that he asked those questions(link to the convo I found yesterday: http://buildism.net/mc/logs.php?page=170#m16975). And the first thing we really heard about this was when we looked on your forums and saw you were the one to post a thread about your team against us. I personally thought that you guys were going try-hard when I read the "positions" of your team, the talk about "Acheron hates caverns, we should use that" and "They are obviously going to pick subway since everyone on Acheron loves subway". If this is really a game just to have fun, then why are you guys making all these plans on how to beat us.

I believe with any competition the objective is to win. I'm sure that the main initiative of this competition is to ultimately have FUN, with that being said; I believe that they are setting up a team, to make it so they don't have to bust their asses more than they should to win.

So. In conclusion, I think this game should be fun with a competitive edge.


Also; We should assign each map a random number, and everyone votes a number ie. (1-15) whichever map has the most votes wins (unless it's too laggy, I guess.) That way it's fair.
