I have received many requests to make and host a premium mine craft server. I have also received many requests not to do it as it will pull players here from classic. This post is to let you the community decide once and for all whether I should host one. Please state your arguments below and vote in the poll.

If I do host a Premium server, I won't have the time to do much with it as I will be busy with work and College. So I'll need volunteers to run it and add mods to it and all the things required to upkeep it. All I'll be doing is setting up the basics and allowing it to run on my private server.

There are many upsides and downsides to this, also I don't want to be hosting it if all it's going to be doing is taking up cpu and RAM with nobody playing on it. I also don't want to detract people away from playing CTF.

The poll will be open for 2 weeks. Thank you for you inputs I'll be watching the thread to see what the outcome is.
I vote no. The minecraft classic community is already so small and there's no reason to split the community. (I also greatly prefer minecraft classic for its simplicity and control)
I want to play on a premium server but cant because i cant pay for an account. I miss redstone, glowstone and most blocks there. Could make a better CTF too.

I vote yes.
We don't need a server to draw away players because the freebuild is providing that service for us already Big Grin
I cri erytiem.
So much hate for premium.
Well Mojang's insistence on Premium fucked over most of the old Classic communities (and Classic in general), so people like me still carry a grudge. Or just me, who knows.

Classic is more laid back and accessible. Premium has so much going on now that it has branched far from what Minecraft originally was and it's practically an RPG... oh, and you can build stuff too. The old excuse is that "You can change the settings to an old update!", but I shouldn't have to change a product I'm purchasing to enjoy it at a maximum level.

It's a more competitive atmosphere with more emphasis on winning rather than relaxing and having fun. For someone who has played Classic for years, Premium was a polarizing experience. I deleted my account and I haven't gone back.
I see this as an opportunity: if we set up a full-version server there is a strong chance that we could become a bigger community and actually attract more people to play classic version CTF.

Yes, there is the risk we could lose more players from our classic servers, but considering how many people here are against even having a full-version server, I strongly doubt that will be the case.

It's about time we try something new: we can't just be complacent and sit back with what we have now. We can do better than this and Jack is presenting us with a new opportunity. Let's take it and build a better future for this community.
I doubt that premium Minecraft players would ever want to try Classic CTF, considering that premium Minecraft has plenty more features than Classic.
Yes, but not as good a CTF.
