To make it fair for newcomers or just in general for everyone playing, maybe when joining teams you should be put into one which revovles around what rank you have, for example, rank 1 being forced onto the opposite team of rank 2, that sort of thing. May seem stupid but could work.
The emptiness of the server has been much improved from before you came back. Back in 2014 (even in the summer), CTF was played, at most, once a week. There were about 6 people total in the community, considering Jacob_ was mostly inactive. Right now we have consistent players for around 6 hours a day, which is a lot better than it was. If there was ever a time to use that, it is now. True, over the summer would have been better, but that's the past. I don't know if the server will have the same amount of players next summer, so I think now is the probably the most we will have if we do not take aggressive action.

You are right. Newcomers leave because its really hard to play. But that isn't really the difficulty of the game, its the skill of the the players. Almost everyone on the server is basically a god at CTF.

It would be nice if you could make a post about what to modify in the current game of CTF or what game that is fresh and new. I want to hear details. I have been suggesting it for a long time, to no avail, but if this particular suggestion is taken up, can we please do it in premium? A huge reason why no one plays this game is because no one plays classicube! Premium is the only mode of minecraft which would actually allow random players to join. I don't know how to code, and I am sure it would be a pain in the butt to figure out this game on premium, but in my limited perspective, that is the best way to allow new players to find us.

And classic, I would agree with that, but I doubt hardcore red team/blue team players like waffle or jack would be very opposed to such an idea. Make a poll and maybe logic will prevail!
for advertising I can work on a proper video with swag effects and stuff(despite my horrible scrapped attempt at the power rankings video)

but yall have to wait until winter break for that : 3

lemme ask something: what does being skilled at ctf entail?
I'm using the word advertising very loosely in this case. It's not the actual advertising, but a part of us that may attract others to become interested. If we had something like that depending on classic cube or even minecraft classic isn't a bad thing. I really like Classic but for that reason, nobody else plays classic. We kind of lost attraction when SMP became more popular, there was no reason to play classic let alone ctf anymore. The only people who stayed are the ones who really find value in the game, community, players, etc.

Doing ctf in premium has been tried before and there is even a ctf standalone for that now I believe. I think it would help but only if literally everything was ported the same way. Less importance on weapons like swords and bows and more on TNT (if we could manage to keep the radius to 5x5x5.
As for the skill level in ctf, it's always been that high. If not, lower level players always manage to become better and keep the standard high. Though there is an intimidation factor when a newer player joins and plays. Maps aren't streamlined to help new players but rather to give advantages to those who know the map well.

One of you mentioned that stats should be reset. Having reset too much is bad, however per regular 3 months or so I think should be okay. It gives incentives for players to work towards being better and being at the top. It's really impossible to climb the ladder right now since you'd have to play all the time and the server isn't always populated enough.
I recall Jacob saying it wouldn't be too hard to release ctf as a standalone game. If we did that we could do kind of a reboot thing. And then it wouldn't be "minecraft" anymore. Then we "advertise" that and people go oh it's like minecraft just not minecraft that's what I always wanted lets try it. Maybe try advertising on the regular minecraft forums? idk

I kinda almost got banned on most of larger forums related to minecraft for trying to do that with CC/Jacob_s ctf, which is why we need someone else thinking ways to advertise.

As for releasing standalone game, sounds v good. It should be done!
I think these plans should involve less work for Jacob. What is being stated isn't impossible, but it's better to aim for smaller realistically achievable goals. Examples can be new map rotations or tomorrow only tdm day. Or even no mines in tdm!
No mines in tdm is genius

I said the rank reset, but I think I'm the only person that actually wants this, other people just want their rank to be really high. I would say 6 months.

Less work for Jacob_... That makes it much harder...

I actually had an idea for a video that I might do with jack. I don't want to say any more, to lead people on, because I have to actually decide if I want to do it.

Considering the amount of video footage and commentary we have done on CTF, the very first thing that should be done is to replace that old video on the front page of the forum. That could be done by light editing of Jeremy's commentary for the tournament.
I agree with Eo on the forums point, but I think we also need to focus on expanding CTF to create a larger community. With that in mind, one of the first things we could do is submit a server advertisement to the Classicube forums.

I think this community should focus more on how to garner publicity.
The standalone game NEEDS to happen. Probably not for a long time, but it has to happen. Anyways, Chester said to refresh the game a bit, we could add a new day. We already have chaos day, but I recommend a day were you choose between different classes like in tf2 and more "normal" games, details can be discussed later. As for advertisement, we kinda screwed there....I'll try to help, but won't be very active until after marching season.
