RE: Banning Hotkeys from CTF - Buzz - 07-21-2016 Although I do support hot keys to be prohibited for tnt (since skill level drops to 0), I don't support the idea of disabling them completely. You can configure the hot keys to say common phrases to your team which is more efficient than standing there waiting to be blown up. As for store weapons just put cool downs (literally raining grenades in some maps) just like rockets and flamethrowers. Dunno about the speed thing though, I thought hot keys were slower but that's just me. RE: Banning Hotkeys from CTF - UnknownShadow200 - 07-22-2016 The problem with the "disabling them completely" is that the hotkeys (in the options menu) are purely a client-side feature, which the server has no knowledge about. One workaround would be to have a command that would define hotkeys for some common messages via TextHotkey packets. RE: Banning Hotkeys from CTF - Waffle - 07-22-2016 Well the time thing is more geared towards stopping it from happening AGAIN, not to stop it from happening in the first place (sadly). And for quick and efficient communication we have Discord or Skype, if you really really need to communicate like that. RE: Banning Hotkeys from CTF - Buzz - 07-23-2016 Fully understand your solution to it, however it wouldn't be very useful for me as I have a pretty high latency compared to other people. Having a chat client running in the background isn't going to help my cause. I do appreciate it as an alternative though and support this thread c; RE: Banning Hotkeys from CTF - Random Guy - 07-23-2016 I understand mostly everyone here would say that it's good for the new players and all that, but seriously? Like I stated in the first post I made in this thread, it absolutely requires no skill at all. I'm sure that most of the people do not support the use of hotkeys Those who use hotkeys don't have to face any challenges. They don't have to worry about mistyping a store command, or misplacing a purple block or a tnt. It literally doesn't require practice, just a placement of the tnt and a press of a button. I'm also sure that hotkeys further piss off the players that have been here before the introduction of it that have spent hard work, time, and effort to perfect (or near perfect) their tnt skills. New players should be getting on more frequently to practice their method, numbers, scroll, feet, I don't know. Thanks for reading, Stagmite RE: Banning Hotkeys from CTF - jack - 07-24-2016 I don't think you can use the client hotkeys to place tnt and purple. I said the placement of tnt and a press of a button. They don't even need to place purple along with tnt. RE: Banning Hotkeys from CTF - Cheesse - 07-24-2016 I think the use of hotkeys makes CTF more of a game that is meant to be played thoughtfully, rather than just spamming TNT as fast as possible. Then the game becomes more focused on how one is able to penetrante through enemy forces in order to reach the flag rather than if one has good connection and can spam TNT very fast. And yet if I pulled out macros you and everybody would complain. Case and point. RE: Banning Hotkeys from CTF - Cheesse - 07-25-2016 Yes obviously because it would be harder to kill you the simple, straightforward way. One would have to be more creative to be able to kill you. |
