Yu-Gi-Oh | Learn The Basics - Magic102 - 02-14-2014 So, SkyPyrus had gotten me to thinking, why don't I just show all of you the basics to the Yu-Gi-Oh Trading Card Game. This would provide a nice and easy way to let some of you people who like to play learn a bit more. I will be adding updates to this. Ok, so heres my long list of how to play Yu-Gi-Oh with a good strategy. Normal Monster Cards Normal Monster cards have no effects but are classics. They tend to have a higher attack power thanks to that, but not always. They can be utilized by cards like Heart of the Underdog and Common Charity. Having 1 - 2 normal monsters isnt bad, but I would stick to using effect monsters for a specific reason. Fusion Monsters Fusion Monsters are monsters that (not always) require the spell card: Polymerization. They come in all different shapes and sizes. Some have effects, some don't. Fusion monsters such as Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon have high attack power. But others like Arcana Knight Joker do have effects. Synchro Monsters Again, as always, some synchro monsters don't have effects, but are powerful. Yusei Futo was a part of the Yu-Gi-Oh 5Ds series. He is basicly my dueling idol. He uses Synchros to prevent his cards from being destroyed. Preferably using Stardust Dragon. Here is an example of how to summon a Synchro Monster: "Level 2 Krebons tunes with level 3 Marauding Captain to summon level 5 Ally of Justice Catastor" Basicly you just take a monster's level and add it to another's to summon a higher level monster from your extra deck (The extra deck is where Fusion, Synchro, and Xyz monsters are kept). But to have a successful Synchro Summon you must have a monster of the 2 or more monsters you use to synchro summon be a 'Tuner' monster. You can look that up yourself. Xyz Monsters Xyz monsters are an infamous bunch of monsters... To summon one, you must have 2 or more monsters on the field that are the same level as each other, and that of the Xyz monster you wish to summon. Such as this: "I can fill the overlay network with level 4 Gagaga Magician and Gagaga Girl to summon Number 39, Utopia! (Level 4)" Xyz monsters use their abilites by removing overlay units from them. The number of overlay units depends on how many monsters were used to Xyz summon the monster. Xyz monsters can only have a certain amount of monsters be used to Xyz summon it. Such as Number 39 Utopia requires that only 2 monsters be used. Otherwhile, monsters like Number 91 Dark Void require 3 (I think although I'm not totally sure if this xyz monster requires 3). Numbered Xyz are special though. You can combine them with their overlay units to convert them into Chaos Numbers. "I now combine my Number 39 Utopia with it's overlay units to fill the overlay network and have Utopia go through Chaos Evolution to turn itself into Chaos Number 39 Utopia Ray!" Thats it for Monsters. I hope you got this into place. Now for Spells and Traps... Spells Some spells enhance a Monsters performance by raising it's attack or defense. those are most likely to be equip spells. But then others allow you to summon more monsters, or summon 1 from the graveyard. Some allow you to lower/raise you or your opponent's life points. You can also use some such as Mystical Space Typhoon to destroy an opponent's spell or trap card. Just read what it says on the description and you should be fine. Also, some spells can be only activated at certain times. Then theres Field spells that can do things that each player can do. Traps Traps can be activated at almost any time, except the turn they are placed face down. Just read what they say and ask yourself how you would benefit with that card in your deck. ---------------------------------------------------- Now for the basics of PLAYING the game. How Life Points Work Life points are basicly how much damage you can endure. Such as you start with 4000 and you lose when your life points hit 0. Your life points drop when your opponent successfully attacks you directly (THAT IS NOT GOOD). Or you deal damage to yourself, or your opponent does. You may want to prevent that at any chance because in this game, every life point is worth something. You can raise your life points (or your oppents, whatever). *List of HELPFUL Cards For Your Deck* 1. Monster Reborn 2. Mystical Space Typhoon 3. Number 39 Utopia + Utopia Ray 4. Recycle 5. Mirror Force 6. Scrap Iron Scarecrow ------------------------------------------------- There, you now know some knowledge about Yu-Gi-Oh, if you have any specific questions, just let me know. THIS IS JUST THE FIRST POST OF MANY. RE: Yu-Gi-Oh | Learn The Basics - waffleninja6000 - 02-16-2014 Um... RE: Yu-Gi-Oh | Learn The Basics - TheAwezomeDJ - 02-16-2014 Sounds cool! Now all I need is to find out where on earth I can buy a set of cards here in sweden. RE: Yu-Gi-Oh | Learn The Basics - XenonMan - 02-16-2014 Rate my deck Blackwing 4ever Fuck Mermails and Madolches Monsters: 3x Blackwing - Shura the Blue Flame 3x Blackwing - Bora the Spear 3x Blackwing - Kalut the Moon Shadow 2x Blackwing - Sirocco the Dawn 2x Blackwing - Blizzard the Far North 1x Blackwing - Vayu the Emblem of Honor 1x Blackwing - Gale the Whirlwind 1x Blackwing - Zephyros the Elite 2x Maxx "C" 1x Dark Armed Dragon Spells: 3x Black Whirlwind 3x Pot of Duality 1x Allure of Darkness 1x Book of Moon 1x Forbidden Lance (only have one atm) 3x Icarus Attack 1x Solemn Warning 1x Bottomless Trap Hole 1x Torrential Tribute 1x Compulsory Evacuation Device 2x Mirror Force 2x Fiendish Chain 1x Delta Crow - Anti Reverse Extra Deck: 1x Vortex the Whirlwind 1x Ally of Justice Catastor 2x Blackwing Armed Wing 1x Gaia Knight, the Force of Earth 2x Blackwing Armor Master 1x Stardust Dragon 1x Dark End Dragon 1x Blackwing - Silverwind the Ascendant 1x Crimson Blader 1x Colossal Fighter 1x Red Dragon Archfiend 1x Gagaga Cowboy 1x Abyss Dweller 1x Maestroke the Symphony Djinn RE: Yu-Gi-Oh | Learn The Basics - Magic102 - 02-16-2014 ------------------------------------------------------ Xenon, your amount of monsters may need at least 1 more. A Preferable deck requires at least 20 monsters, 10 spells, and 10 traps. But that also depends on how you play, like if you are a person who utilizes spells or traps to get more monsters on the field, or just increase the attack. The combinement of the new Xyz monsters are a good add-on, if you need them. I, myself have a blackwing deck from the version of 5ds only. I haven't lost against the cpu's just yet, I have beaten them all with the deck so far, lets just hope I don't lose with my Shooting Star Dragon, Black-Winged Dragon, Red Nova Dragon, and my 3 Egyptian God cards. :/ ------------------------------------------------------ Deck Balance The balance of a deck is key to winning a duel, or even to get a good starting hand. Here is a example of how a deck should seem: Monster Card # - 20 Spell Card # - 10 Trap Card # - 10 (Extra Deck is optional up to 15, I would recommend at least 1-2 of each level monster) - 15 If you use the recommendations above, you have a lesser chance of drawing a bad hand of no monsters, spells, or trap cards. Your starting hand is (at least I think) the most important part of a duel since from there, everything just goes. Deck Stability There really isn't much of a difference for Deck stability in relation to deck balance. But, the stability requires what groups of cards you use in your deck. Such as Xenon uses mostly blackwing monsters with cards that relate to their type to succeed in combo effects. List of other good groups of cards (50) 1 - Ally of Justice 2 - Blue Eyes Dragon 3 - Amazon 4 - Junk 5 - Karakuri 6 - Exodia 7 - X-Saber 8 - Fortune Lady 9 - Blackwing 10 - Stardust 11 - Elemental Heroes 12 - Resonator 13 - Symphonic 14 - Gagaga 15 - Gogogo 16 - Achacha 17 - Dark World 18 - Guardian 19 - Kuribo 20 - Meklord 21 - Reactor Series 22 - Destiny Heroes 23 - Evil Heroes 24 - Masked Heroes 25 - Dragunity 26 - Roid 27 - Earthbound Immortals 28 - Gishki 29 - Ice Barrier 30 - Fabled 31 - Flamvell 32 - Gadget 33 - Nordic (one of my favorites) 34 - Toon 35 - Gem Knights 36 - Genex 37 - Gladiator Beasts 38 - Gravekeepers 39 - Six Samurai 40 - Legendary Lords 41 - God Cards 42 - Helios 43 - Heralds 44 - Infernity 45 - Iron Chain 46 - Cyber Dragon 47 - Jurrac 48 - Machina 49 - Malefic 50 - Naturia There are the first 50 groups I can think of off the top of my head. I might add more... RE: Yu-Gi-Oh | Learn The Basics - XenonMan - 02-17-2014 I prefer to run 1 extra staple (the extra Mirror Force) because I had an extra that was from my Joey Wheeler Starter Deck way back when I did NOT want to spend any more money on my Blackwing deck lolol A few more to add to the list: Battlin' Boxers (great starter fun deck, would recommend to beginning players. not the best set, but not the worst either) Mermails (harder to play because they focus on multiple effects to swarm the field) Madolches (would not recommend, as of this set they are really expensive to buy right now) Arcana Force (really fun to play but won't recommend because they are literal shit) Frogs (as far as my knowledge goes, these combine really well with decks that focus on getting cards out) Monarchs (goes really well with frogs, but not really good because some cards crucial to the deck combo are banned) Lightsworn (would recommend, focuses on getting out judgment dragon for otk. works well combined with DARK monsters to make "Twilight" decks) RE: Yu-Gi-Oh | Learn The Basics - Scabbesr - 02-17-2014 I played this when I was younger. I got all the god cards when I was in Italy. RE: Yu-Gi-Oh | Learn The Basics - Magic102 - 02-17-2014 I'm just glad I'm not the only one who plays this. And I sorta wanna duel you with my deck... I can use the 5 parts of exodia within 4 turns of the duel... and my turns during the duel can go on to about 8 minutes :P ---------------------------------------------------------------------- My Deck: ---------------------------------------------------------------------- 2x Alien Shocktrooper 1x Aqua Madoor 2x Archfiend Soldier 2x Battle Footballer 3x Blue Eyes White Dragon 1x Chamberlain of the Six Samurai 2x Charcoal Inpachi 2x Gem-Knight Garnet 1x Gem-Knight Sapphire 2x Gene-Warped Warwolf 2x Gladiator Beast Andal 2x Insect Knight 2x Luster Dragon 1x Mad Dog of Darkness 1x Prevent Rat 1x Renge, Gatekeeper of Dark World 1x X-Head Cannon Exodia Cards: 1x Left Arm of the Forbidden One 1x Left Leg of the Forbidden One 1x Right Arm of the Forbidden One 1x Right Leg of the Forbidden One 1x Exodia the Forbidden One Spell Cards: 3x Heart of the Underdog 1x Polymerization 1x Monster Reborn Trap Cards: 1x Common Charity 1x Prideful Roar Extra Deck: 1x Blue Eyes Ultimate Dragon 1x Blaze Fenix, the Burning Bombardment Bird 1x Ignition Beast Volcannon ---------------------------------------------------------------------- My stars of the deck (If I can summon it) would be either Exodia, or Blaze Fenix, the Burning Bombardment Bird. Blaze Fenix, the Burning Bombardment Bird's effect is: 1 Machine-Type monster + 1 Pyro-Type monster Once per turn, during you Main Phase, you can inflict 300 damage to your opponent for each card on the field. If you activate this effect, this card cannot attack this turn. RE: Yu-Gi-Oh | Learn The Basics - XenonMan - 02-17-2014 Get this: http://ygopro.de/en/ WAAAY better than duelingnetwork because everything is automatic. No need to place a card down then repeatedly say "eff" then SS'ing and shit. My friends and I play it. When you make an account, add me: "xenon" without quotes. AND GOOD LORD YOUR DECK IS ATROCIOUS Just look up "exodia otk 2014" Monster Reborn is banned y'know :P RE: Yu-Gi-Oh | Learn The Basics - Magic102 - 02-17-2014 Err, considering I have never lost with it in a consequous number of 40 games in a row... I think I'm good :P Heres a deck that basicly makes your opponent take 800 points of damage whenever the place something :P It also helps negate attacks... A lot... ------------------------------------------------------ Monsters: 2x Battle Fader 1x Command Knight 1x Flying Fortess SKY FIRE 1x Ghost Gardna 1x Krebons 3x Marauding Captain 3x Nimble Momonga 1x Quillbolt Hedgehog 2x Spell Reactor -RE 2x Summon Reactor -SK 1x Sweet Corn 1x The Calculator 2x Trap Reactor -Y FI 1x XX-Saber Fulhelmknight Spells: 2x Burden of the Mighty 1x Dian Keto the Cure Master 1x Giant Trunado 1x Gracefull Dice 1x Gravekeeper's Servant 2x Horn of the Unicorn 1x Swords of Revealing Light Traps: 1x Gravity Bind 1x Magical Arm Shield 1x Mirror Force 1x Negate Attack 1x Sakuretsu Armor 2x Scrap Iron Scarecrow 1x Security Orb 1x Solemn Wishes 1x Threatening Roar |
