Server Publicity - Is it necessarily good? - Creatoss - 12-23-2013

Spreading the word and advertising our community is great--or is it? As much as I think that we need more attention and fame, I worry about how the community--we--will handle it.

In my few years of playing through Minecraft Communities, I think that the least talked about, and quite possibly one of the most dangerous threats to a community's well being, is the publicity that may follow as result of some action or event.

Although in a lot of ways publicity can be good, it can also be very bad.

This post isn't meaning to say that publicity is a complete danger--a volatile threat, but is something that should be met--regarded with a high level of caution.

Good morning! I see where you're getting at, it may just be me, but I'm really missing the days where it was actually hard to get in the server. While the server was constantly full, there were large numbers of new randoms and players joining and I thought that'd be nice to see again. You're surely right about the threats that will come, hackers, trolls, and bad publicity, etc.

If you're talking about "handling" things and worrying for such, then are you referencing the Operators?
