Generally, before the game starts during a tournament you are given 10 seconds. Use this time to discuss a build, A common mistake that happens in CTF Is if the players aren't playing together, E.G The pushes are inaccurate and irregular.

In this post, I'll be telling you how to form a team builds.

Note: This post is not as useful in random games as it is in tournaments.

First thing first we're gonna need the defense, A Basic CTF Game should have 4v4 Not Including Subs, 1 Person should stay and delay any pushes from rushing, another person should be a mid-player mainly he should eliminate any person pressuring the defender, Meanwhile, the last two should be pushing the other teams flag. When the flag is captured, the other who didn't capture it should distract the enemies by holding the flag like you're camping. This person mustn't die as that would die out the strategy strength.

Talking about defending, If someone is using this Strategy against you don't worry its possible to counter, its simple pressure them as they rush so they don't get a chance to capture, after so if you kill them the mid-winger on your team should push with the two attackers, the defense of the other team will buffer up leading to a halt in the rush.

-----------------------------------
Mine placement.

Mines are useful during rushes, try to get the mine in the corner blended in with the room. Don't put them by the direct sides of the door or they'll be easily blown up. mushrooms and plants could also be used to prevent TNT/block placement on them

Likewise, I stated that this isn't much usable during Public/Random Games.

Good luck at the tournament to you all!

As the winner of the 2017 CTF Summer Tournament, I would like to impart some of my game knowledge to you. You are reading the strategy that won my team the game, as unlikely as it would have seemed at the time.

The primary objective: capture the enemy's flag more than they can yours. How? Do it by Brute Force or Sneaking while Defending.

OK, so, how to take the flag by Brute Force? Go through the shortest route to their flag and kill anyone in the way. Take the flag and move back, killing anyone in the way. There are many ways of killing the enemy; they will be taken into account later.

How to take the flag by Sneaking? Go through the longest, hidden, or unprotected route to their flag while avoiding or sneak-attacking the enemy. Set traps along the way, and be alert for enemy traps. Take the flag and move back through an unoccupied route.

What are the effects of using either strategy? Brute Force is good against weaker players and, at the same time, eliminates some of those trying to take your flag. However, it is only useful as a defensive tactic against stronger opponents, as it just slows down their advances. We will discuss strength later. Sneaking allows you to avoid stronger players and take their flag without them stopping you. However, this strategy offers no defense, and so must be used only in certain situations. There is a chance you will be found by the enemy and killed, and your plans would be discovered.

So what about Defense? Stay near your flag and kill those who come near it, set traps, and create obstacles and favorable environment, basically. The Defense strategy counters Sneaking and weak Brute Forcing, but is futile against stronger opponents.

So which strategy is the best to use? The Brute Force strategy is the recommended one to use is most situations, since it is both offensive and defensive. Once you die, though, you have failed, and, depending on the enemy's position and tactic, you may have to change your strategy. If the enemy is using weak Brute Force anywhere, then continue using Brute Force. If the enemy is using strong Brute Force at his territory, then it is safe to continue using Brute Force, although setting up defenses first is a good idea. You could also Sneak here. If the enemy is using strong Brute Force at your territory, then it is best to quickly set some defenses, then proceed with Brute Force. If the enemy is Sneaking at his territory, then you can just Brute Force to the flag. Make sure you have set some defenses beforehand! If the enemy is Sneaking at your territory, then Defend. If the enemy is Defending, then, either Sneak to find a weak point then use Brute Force, or just Brute Force your way through. If the enemy's Defense is too strong, then a stalemate is reached.

It is important to play by these concepts at all times, as not doing so will usually cause you to lose.

Accurate placement of TNT is a critical skill to master for aspiring CTF players. However, for most people, accurate TNT placement often translates into what I call "linear placement." In other words, most players deliberately place their TNT directly in front of their opponent and themselves. While this is not at all a bad tactic, it is overused. Good TNT placement should have variation--the placement of your TNT should be unpredictable. CTF is mainly a game of reaction and wit. The same exact placement of TNT challenges neither your opponent's reaction time and wit, and therefore, prolongs battles or degenerates battles into a game of luck and whoever can place TNT faster and better. That's why I want to share with you all one of the many tactics I use when playing CTF: flanking.

In war, "flanks" refer to the sides of your of your opponent's army. Often in warfare, armies attempt to flank each other by deliberately moving troops to the extreme left or right of the opposing army's current deployment. This is a simple, yet proven strategy that we can apply to CTF and, more specifically, TNT placement.

When confronting an enemy, first make sure to keep a relatively comfortable distance away from your opponent. Do not let your opponent advance; keep him or her at bay. Next, as both of you begin placing your TNTs, place your first TNT to either the extreme left or right of your opponent. (For right-handed players, I suggest placing your TNT to your extreme left first; for left-handed players, place the TNT on your right.) Next, as you move around, observe how your opponent reacts and, more importantly, where he or she moves. If your opponent moves away from your TNT on the extreme left by moving towards your right, then you have trapped your opponent into your tactic. As your opponent begins moving right, explode your first TNT, and place your next TNT to the right or extreme right, just in front of your opponent's predicted movement course. Be patient and explode the TNT when your opponent moves into the blast zone and before he or she can react.

Now, if you're opponent performs the correct counter by moving around your first TNT on the extreme left by moving left then match his movement by moving to your right. Circle around your TNT and use your TNT as a shield to prevent him from getting too close. This movement is what I call "Orbiting." If you wish, you can also apply the flanking once again by placing your second TNT further left, in front of your opponent. Be aware that this is a risky decision.

Hope this helps some of you. If you have any questions, please ask me them when I'm on CTF. Thanks!

hello there! in case you don't know me, i am the worst person to have on your team. not only am i not very good at using tnt, i thoroughly enjoy trolling the living hell out of other players. since i can't play the game right now, i thought that i should post my official guide for trolling this server.

note: i am not responsible if you get banned for doing any of these things. in fact, you probably will, so you have been warned.

spamming: the art of flooding the screen with useless/annoying messages. the most effective way to do this is to put your right index and middle finger on the 3 and enter keys on your keyboards numeric pad. then put your left index finger on the t key. press all these buttons ad infinitum and the screen will be flooded with spam!

another effective way to spam is to type an annoying sentence and then have it be repeated. in case you don't know, after you press t, you can use the up and down arrows to select a message you typed earlier. the message you type can be an annoying song lyric (i'm so fresh you can suck my nuts is a personal favorite of mine), or copy/paste a story repeatedly. i did this once with the story called "a skeleton popped out" and got banned temporarily because everyone got so annoyed.

if you get muted for spam, all you have to do is use the /teamchat command, and your team will suffer. worse, they can't stop you from doing it.

this isn't really trolling, but it is an effective strategy for getting points. join the game when no one is playing and have an alt join the other team. wait until point blocks start falling, and collect them all for yourself. extremely useful for cr'ing.

you could try tricking noobs into using /ragequit. not as great or easy to do as the right of passage style /hacks trolling (which sadly, you can't do on this server).

line-breaking: if you see a teammate using /line, you can walk the line and delete it as you go. it also works for enemy lines. be sure to do it again if teammates try to rebuild them.

flag and hide: the act of taking the other teams flag and then hiding underground, or in another clever place. this prevents both teams from capturing, effectively pausing the game until someone finds you. on the larger maps, this could take a very long time (unless they use the anti stalemate mode to force you to drop the flag). if you troll this way, perhaps you should choose a place to hide close to the enemy spawn. this means that you can get it back easy if they make you drop the flag. but then again, they will look there first, so be careful.

although recommended, you don't have to hide underground. you also could hide in a tree, or in a secret. try to think of places that no one will ever think of looking in.

anti stalemate trolling: if both teams have the enemy flags, if a player gets tagged, the flag carrier on his or her team will drop the flag. if you allow yourself to get tagged whenever this happens, your team will get mad at you, and they will be trolled thouroghly.

spec killing: if someone chooses to be a spec, you can easily kill them. as they can't fight back, this can be very entertaining. it is better to choose a specific person to be your victim, as they will get annoyed faster. this is against the rules, so be prepared for punishment if you get caught.

spec-icide trolling: the opposite of the above method. if you become a spec and then walk right into a battle, you can accuse someone of spec killing you. bonus points if you say that they should be banned or demoted because of it. after you get killed a few times, you may get in trouble. if this happens, you can scream innocent intent, and tell the op that they are abusing their power, and that you are the victim. you can troll the ops through the roof with this.

orange block trolling: telling a noob that they can get points if they place and remove an orange block quickly. this is one of the only tactics in this guide that you won't get banned for doing.

duel'n'hide: starting a duel with someone, and then hiding. the other player is stuck trying to find and kill you, and will be otherwise unable to play the game. this works well if the person is already annoyed by your antics. if they won't accept your duel, trash talk them until they get annoyed enough to want to accept. on some maps, you can set up traps for you to kill them. if you can win this troll-duel, they will hate you forever.

point block trolling: there are several ways to do it. you can threaten to destroy a point block if you are not allowed to troll others. or you can do it anyway. (although there is a way to still get the points, some people don't know how to do it) you could also place hundreds of fake point blocks, making it hard when someone is trying to find the real one. also, you can place tnt underneath a fake point block. from a distance, you can wait until someone takes it, and then remotly detonate the tnt, killing them.

lavaing: as lava slows you down considerably, you can troll the hell out of someone by placing lava around them. it works great if they are coming back with the enemy flag, or if they are in battle with another player. placing it in and around spawn will annoy your entire team, as they have to perform the tedious chore of cleaning it all up. overall, this will make people want to ragequit if you don't stop.

CR'ing: (oh come on, you knew this was coming) typing /cr. this command makes you self destruct, killing you, and anyone close to you. the best part: it works on teammates as well as the other team.

this is the ultimate way to troll on this server. you can use it to prevent someone on your team from capturing the flag. if you do it close to your flag, you might be able to capture the flag instead of them. another method is to follow them as they go for the enemy flag. after they grab the flag, blow them up.

you can also spawn camp...your teams spawn! once i prevented my whole team from leaving spawn, and the enemy team won the game within 2 minutes completly unopposed. preventing a single person from leaving works great too. after you do it to them a few times, they may ragequit or ban you. either way, you win.

once someone gets mad enough, start following them around and cr'ing them when you get close enough. this drives people bonkers. or do it while they are in battle.

finally, mix up your strategy. perform one or 2 methods in one round and then do others in the next rounds. and always ask people "umad?" or "umadbro?"

if you know of any other ways to troll this game, leave them in the comments below.

thank you for reading, and happy trolling/getting banned!

Hello, my name is Ban.
Today, I'd like to give you all advice on your technique.
We all have our own technique.
I recommend you find out what you like best.

You can be an Aggressive Player or a Defensive Player.
Me personally, I'm a Aggressive Player.
So.. technique.

How to get more kills:
Technique is how you do things, how you get your kills, how you get your caps.
I recommend being patients. If you are in a rush to get kills, you most likely
wont get kills. Be patient and wait for your opponent to rush at you. If you rush,
yes you can get a load of kills, but a lot of deaths aswell, so be careful!

How to play defense:
To play Defense, you will basically being the one who sits back and chills.
You may have a mine hidden in one place, and another. Basically, defense is
well, it explains itself. Your defending your team, so your making sure that
the enemy doesn't grab your teams flag. I recommend you don't pillar. Once you
jump off the flag, the enemy can place tnt where your going to land, than
they may end up getting a flag cap. Just relax, and do as you do while
trying your best to defend your flag.

How to escort:
As I'm an Aggressive Player, I can also be an escort.
Basically, what this is, is your team mate, will steal the enemy flag.
You will follow your team mate, and basically escort him.
Don't let any of the team mates kill him. Maybe you can lead the
enemies to a trap with a mine.

Enjoy and Have Fun!

Why is this such a problem? Let me demonstrate the effects of this action through simple diagram. Red player (Red Circle) stands by his own TNT (Red Box), when he does this, he puts himself into the enemy's range/line of fire (Blue Rhombus). As such, when this happens, the said blue player (Blue Circle) could place a TNT beside the red player's TNT thus killing the Red Player in the process.

When players make this kind of mistake, it shows that they still need to focus and practice on keeping their distance from opponents. In a real world fight, much like a CTF duel, excellent fighters/players will intentionally keep some distance apart in order to get away from a 'line of fire'.
