Well Mojang's insistence on Premium fucked over most of the old Classic communities (and Classic in general), so people like me still carry a grudge. Or just me, who knows.
Classic is more laid back and accessible. Premium has so much going on now that it has branched far from what Minecraft originally was and it's practically an RPG... oh, and you can build stuff too. The old excuse is that "You can change the settings to an old update!", but I shouldn't have to change a product I'm purchasing to enjoy it at a maximum level.
It's a more competitive atmosphere with more emphasis on winning rather than relaxing and having fun. For someone who has played Classic for years, Premium was a polarizing experience. I deleted my account and I haven't gone back.
